Besides having the honor of being named "CD of the Week" April 25, 2009, by the eminent Rich Warren, of WFMT's Midnight Special, www.midnightspecial.org, the CD has had a number of plays on WDCB Radio 90.9 FM's Tuesday night Folk Festival program with Lilli Kuzma, www.wdcb.org. I also had the pleasure of talking with Kathy Kelly, host of the Sunday morning Folk show on WNUR Radio out of Northwestern University. You can find an archived replay of that show at www.wnur.org/folk. And to put the cherry on the top, I was a guest on WGN Radio's Sunday Papers, with Rick Kogan on Sunday, May 10, 2009. For all you sleepyheads who missed it, I have put a couple of 4 to 5 minute snippets of the interview up. Click on "The CD" tab above and another tab for "Archives" should appear. Click there and take a listen. |

Comes Up Grinnin’ is a (mostly) acoustic collection of songs featuring some of the finest musicians in Chicago today: Don Stiernberg on mandolin, Randy Lee on electric guitar, Mark Furlong on bass in addition to a cameo from Jim Cox on acoustic double bass, Tony Bobalik on keyboards and Dan Wile on drums, with special appearances from the legendary Bill Porter on trombone, Jim Massoth on clarinet and even a couple of local OPRF High School students on additional horns to make up The Groovy Guys Band, not to mention the fabulous Megon McDonough on backup vocals.
